US: Taiwan to Cut 99% Tariffs, Invest $250 Billion Under New Trade Deal
The US–Taiwan trade deal will see Taiwan remove or reduce 99% of its tariff barriers, eliminating major tariff and non-tariff obstacles for US exports.
Taiwanese exports to the United States will face a 15% tariff, aligned with the US ‘most favoured nation’ rate applied to other Asia-Pacific partners.
Taiwan committed to invest $250 billion in US industries including semiconductors, AI applications and energy.
Additionally, Taiwan will provide up to $250 billion in credit guarantees to support smaller businesses investing in the United States.
The agreement aims to strengthen supply chains and support advanced technology manufacturing through new industrial parks in the US.
