US Cotton Exports Rebound on Strong Upland Demand

07 February 2026

US Upland cotton sales rebounded to 249,800 RB (+23% WoW) in the week ended Jan 29, 2026, though they remained 5% below the four-week average, led by strong buying from Vietnam, Pakistan and China.

Forward bookings for 2026–27 rose sharply to 114,900 RB, with Malaysia (52,800 RB) and Indonesia (33,400 RB) driving next-season demand.

Upland cotton shipments eased 9% WoW to 235,300 RB but stayed 25% above the recent average, with Vietnam again the top destination.

Outstanding Upland sales fell to 3.98 million RB, well below 5.20 million RB last year, even as cumulative exports climbed to 3.82 million RB, ahead of last season’s pace.

Pima cotton remained weak, with sales dropping to 3,200 RB and shipments falling to a marketing-year low of 2,300 RB, mainly shipped to China and other niche markets.
