India - US Lawmakers Move to End Trump’s 50% Tariff Emergency
Three US lawmakers moved to end Trump’s national emergency that enabled tariffs of up to 50% on Indian imports.
The resolution would also cancel the extra 25% duties imposed on August 27.
Deborah Ross, Marc Veasey, and Raja Krishnamoorthi said Trump misused the IEEPA, raising many tariffs to 50%.
Ross noted Indian companies invested over $1 billion in North Carolina, creating thousands of jobs.
They warned the tariffs hurt US workers, raise costs, and damage a key US–India partnership.
