India’s textile & apparel exports to the US rose 0.9% to $9.68 billion in 2025, up from $9.59 billion in 2024, despite elevated tariffs in the second half, according to OTEXA data analysed by CITI.
Monthly trends showed strong early growth — January (+28.2%), March (+15.7%), July (+9.1%) — followed by declines from September (-5.7%), October (-30.1%), November (-31.4%), and December (-16.2%).
Vietnam strengthened its lead with imports rising 12.9% to $18.43 billion (including +18.1% in December), while Bangladesh grew 11.5% to $8.38 billion, with gains of 44.6% in June and 5.2% in July.
China recorded a sharp contraction of 32.4%, with US imports falling to $17.63 billion, including steep drops of 50.3% in September and 48.8% in December.
CITI noted that India’s stable annual performance reflects resilience, with improved tariff conditions expected to support sourcing stabilisation and recovery in the coming months.
